2nd International Encounters of Biomedical Research

Jointly organized by the International Research Laboratories (LIR), French Pharmaceutical Companies Association (LEEM) and Circulation, Metabolism and Nutrition thematic multi-organization institute, the 2nd International Encounters of Biomedical Research focused on cardiovascular and metabolic diseases

Some fifteen French academic researchers presented examples of outstanding research work (heart, vessels, diabetes and obesity) to 50 representatives from the biggest pharmaceutical companies worldwide, including 3 French ones. A unique meeting of its kind for identifying partners on both sides, targeting joint projects and swiftly managing to transform basic research findings into innovative medical solutions.

To fight against these complex diseases, major public and private cooperation is now essential. The President of the French Republic has this year reasserted his commitment to biomedical research and spoken of his support of French research through the French National Alliance for Life and Health Sciences - Aviesan - headed up by André Syrota.

Last year, the first International Encounters of Biomedical Research on neurosciences and Alzheimer’s disease was successful and marked a genuine turning point. Public-private partnerships in basic research have been forged and France is really perceived by international private stakeholders as one of the leading countries in this regard.
