As Parliament prepares to debate the Health Bill, the Economic, Social and Environmental Council (ESEC) has decided to address a subject that is essential for the health of the French people and of great importance to the economy, but insufficiently emphasised by the public authorities: medical devices. There are between 800,000 and 2 million of these devices in France. Such a proliferation requires that measures be taken to improve safety and quality, to offer better access to innovative and useful medical devices, while limiting the residual contribution to be paid by households, and link health policy and industrial excellence.
